In light of the continued urge of the Department of Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) for public institutions and business owners to ensure their compliance, the importance of complying fast becomes evident to avoid penalties associated with non-compliance.
This becomes evident once again as Mr.Hussam Abu Ali, Director of the Income Tax and Sales Department renews his call to all ministries and public institutions in Jordan to ensure their compliance with tax laws issued by the Department of Income and Sales Tax Department regarding the importance of transitioning to E-invoicing and adopting the E-invoice instead of the paper invoices permanently.
The call wasn’t restricted to the need for compliance only but also included a directive initiative to ensure that all institutions dealt with in regard to any purchase or commercial transactions follow the rules and regulations set by tax authorities for E-invoicing in Jordan.
How Do You Know That?
According to the Department of Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD), this can be checked by searching for the businesses registered in the national E-invoicing system in Jordan through which companies can be searched and checked for tax compliance or non-tax compliance.
E-invoicing in Jordan
The ISTD’s announcement isn’t new in Jordan as the decision to make the shift towards E-invoicing was declared in 2019, by which E-invoicing became mandatory. The main goal of this decision is to ease the tax compliance process for taxpayers and ensure that all sectors adhere to fair requirements.
Businesses can adopt the National E-invoicing System provided by the ISTD without any additional fees, or use any authorized E-invoicing system to manage the E-invoicing process inside the organization in case the organization doesn’t own an internal system to manage its processes.
